POOLE, DORSET — The USA head to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa full of hope after a good couple of years in qualifying for the tournament, they are getting stronger and stronger in the World game and will be looking to continue that improvement in South Africa. In 2002 the US went to the Quarter-Finals of the World Cup and that is a feat that they will be looking to match this summer, having said that they are not one of the favourites in the betting to win the tournament after being drawn in Group C which features England, Slovenia and Algeria. Their first match is the big one against England which is one that they can go into without any fear, several of the USA world Cup Squad play in the Premier League so they will no doubt be relishing the opportunity to take on Fabio Capello’s men. The US will be hoping to repeat their form of last summer when they went all the way to the Confederations Cup Final, on that run they even beat Spain in the Semi-Final against all the odds and they will want to draw on that experience when they face England in Group C.
World Cup Odds and in particular the Group C Betting is telling us that USA are underdogs behind the England World Cup Betting Odds, and their aim will be to get second spot in the group. They will be no pushovers for England though with the US hoping to catch their illustrious opponents’ cold. Bob Bradley has picked a strong squad for the US including the likes of Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard who have all proved to be world class on their day. Donovan in particular is the key man for the US team and he is known as the face of American Soccer, he has amassed 121 caps despite only being 28 years of age and is the golden boy of the squad. He has 42 goals to his name which is a good record by anyone’s standards and after his impressive spell with Everton earlier this year the English defenders will be only too aware of threat posed by Landon Donovan. Fabio Capello and England will be wary of slipping up in their first game against the Americans despite being the clear favourites in the World Cup Betting, that is a measure of the respect the US have earned in recent years and a mark of their progress. The England v USA Betting offers hope that the Americans can pick up a point against England in the first Group C game they will then be in good stead ahead of their remaining two group games.
The two key games for the USA in Group C in South Africa will be the ones after the England game; they play Slovenia on the 18th June and then Algeria in their final group game on the 23rd June at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. They will be the favourites to in each of those two games and if they do they will almost certainly progress to the last 16 of the tournament regardless of the result against England. The key match could be against the Slovenians on June 18th with the Algerians looking the weakest on paper, Slovenia qualified well for the tournament but they do not possess the experience of the American team. They will be looking to pick up three points there and improve on their performance at the last World Cup when they had somewhat of a disaster in Germany, they managed only one point from three games and they were on the first plane back to North America. That was below their expectations but they have bounced back since and as the 2010 FIFA World Cup Bets suggests they could prove dangerous outsiders in South Africa, any of the big teams including England in the first game will need to be wary of slipping up against a strong and experienced team such as the USA.
